Azalea Lace Bug

	Azalea lacebugs are active at this time.

Birch Leafminer

	Mines resulting from the feeding of Birch leafminer larvae were at least 1/2" wide on European birch in Sewickley this past week.

Boxwood Psyllid

	Boxwood adults were present in Pittsburgh again this week. The use of neonicotinoid insecticides in October or November of 2007 will prevent the cupping on the new growth in 2008.

	Eounymus scale crawlers were active again this week in the City of Pittsburgh.

Fourlined Plant Bug

	Fourlined plant bugs are actively feeding on a wide variety of herbaceous perennials at this time. The red nymph stage can be found nearby their characteristic feeding injury seen in the image to the left.

	Honeylocust plant bug adults are present at this time on honeylocusts in the City of Pittsburgh.

Native Holly Leafminer

	The adult stage of the Native Holly Leafniner have emerged and there was evidence of feeding puncture wounds on Ilex opaca, American holly, in Sewickley. Control measures should be applied when this feeding injury is seen. Egg laying will follow soon after.

	Pieris lacebug adults are actively feeding on Pieris and mountain laurel at this time

	Spruce Spider Mite adults are actively feeding at this time.

	Hawthorn Lacebugs Adult and egg stages of the hawthorn lacebug were observed on Amelancier or serviceberry at the Penn State Beaver campus this past week.
